I am thankful.
I am thankful for my perceptions, my thoughts, my beliefs, my quirkiness, and my upbringing that has shaped it all. I am thankful for my innocence. I am thankful for my empathy, I am thankful for my shamelessness, and I am thankful for their hybrid existence.
I am thankful for the fro. I am thankful for discovering it, for all it has made me feel. I am thankful for where is taken me, the good, the bad, the ::magic:: and the misunderstood. I am thankful for all the people who have gravitated here to read my thoughts, and I am thankful for all who have shared their own. I am thankful for the process of continual learning and growing. I am thankful for every single comment on this blog – all 1,076 I have published, and the 34 I have not.
I am thankful for diversity; diversity of skin color, religions, belief systems and morals. I am thankful for learning about people and for the blessing of being deeply affected by others. I am thankful for the way my brain works, and for my desire to share my thoughts and feelings with others publicly. I am thankful for the thoughts and feelings I choose to keep greedily to myself.
I am thankful for knowingness.
I am thankful for everything I am not, because it makes me everything I am.
I am thankful for The Beatles, for improv, for massages, for yoga, for my iPhone, and for strangers who smile on the street. I am thankful that NYC is my home, and I am thankful for those who come from around the world to visit, live, and share their energy. I am thankful to see beauty in everyone, no matter what. I am thankful to see beauty in every inch of my own body, no matter what.
I am thankful for the support system in my life. I am thankful for my brilliant and delicious boyfriend, for the greatest family in the world, and for my other family: my friends. I am thankful that any real drama in my life is that of the loving sort.
I am thankful that I choose to love. I am thankful that I feel love at all times. I am thankful to make love. I am thankful that I love myself above all.
I am thankful that I feel thankful every single day.
I am thankful that I am able to channel my unbelievably fortunate feelings of gratitude toward empowering – and not cowering.
I am thankful for being exactly me.
love this And you so much. So grateful for YOU!
Sent from my iPhone with love and a few bursts of bliss
aww I liked this, glad you’re thankful for this learning experience. and goodness I would hate to see the 34 that didnt get thru!
I also hope you’re thankful for living in a non-marginalized white bubble.
dude, why are you still posting pictures of you with an afro? why is that still the background picture on this blog? i thought you had a revelation about white privilege? that means going the whole nine yards and committing to it. i believe in you. you need to do the right thing.
dude, why are you still posting pictures of yourself wearing the afro wig? i thought you had an enlightening moment when you reading peggy and found the people’s institute. owning privilege and trying to dismantle it means trying to commit fully to that mission. you can do it.
Now you are just being obnoxious.
You don’t have empathy. If you had empathy you would have LISTENED to the people who were hurt by your actions. You are a narcissist, pure and simple.
